Butterfly Fund
In 2020, approximately 1,400 people ages 0-24 years old passed away. That means there were approximately 2,800 adults who were left to grieve their child's precious memory.
No parent deserves to bury their child, which is why HHYC works to help lift away the financial burden associated with proper burial and memorialization.
Our Butterfly Fund is comprised of both crowdfunding donations and HHYC funding which is sent directly to the funeral home of choice to assist with the expenses of burying your loved one who was 0-21 years old at the time of their passing.

How Can I Apply for Funds?
Who Qualifies for Funds?
Any youth ages 0-21 years old who have recently passed away qualify for funds through our agency. These funds are to be used expressly for all expenses incurred in the burial, cremation, and/or memorialization of the departed.
The manner of death is not considered when determining eligibility.
How Do I Apply?
In order to apply for funds with HHYC, the decedent's next of kin will need to apply with our office online or in-person. Next of kin includes the person most closely related to the departed, or the person who will be financially responsible for the funeral arrangements. This person is typically a parent, grandparent, or legal guardian.
All applicants will be required to provide an invoice from a funeral home of the family's choice that includes the legal name of the decedent.
All funds will be dispersed to the funeral home directly.
Where do the Funds Come From?
When determining the fund amount to be paid, HHYC conducts a 7-day social media campaign in honor of the departed. This campaign will not include any identifying information of the family and will allow community members to donate individually. Once the campaign is concluded, HHYC will match all donations received up to the amount of $500. Once an invoice for the funeral home has been received, both HHYC and community member donations will be paid out to the funeral home.
Why the Butterfly?
Butterflies are commonly used to represent the loss of a loved one, especially when the decedent is a child. Butterflies frequently represent transformation and beauty, which is typically associated with the transition to the afterlife.
